"Medical Awareness in the Park" will feature the success stories of families, including that of Cameron Petersen, who have improved sight as a result of umbilical cord stem-cells. The event will take place 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (MARCH 27) at Gilchrist Park in Punta Gorda.
Cameron, a toddler who was legally blind, has made significant progress since undergoing a stem-cell infusion in China last year. Carol Petersen of Port Charlotte, Cameron's grandmother, is a champion of the procedure.
"We will be discussing the umbilical stem-cell treatment my grandson and several other children had in China," Peterson said. "This treatment has given sight to all these children who were legally blind and/or totally blind.
Doctors from the University of Florida, along with Dr. David Klein of Port Charlotte, will be speaking on the medical test results recently done on three of these children at UF. The public is invited. For more information, go to www.cameronsmiracleofsight.com.
